The Khuya Ceremony

THE KHUYA CEREMONY, “the ceremony of the black pant”, is an ancient tradition of the Q’ero people of Peru, descendants of the Inca.

Very few remaining people perform this healing ceremony, but amazingly it has been kept alive by a few elders. In 2010 I was initiated as a third generation “Chunpi Paqo” to perform the ceremony and am honoured to bring this ancient healing ceremony to the people who need it.

In this powerful ceremony, we enter the sacred bubble of the soul. “Khuyas” (sacred objects) are used to open, cleanse, empower and connect the seven major energy centres of the body via a series of “chunpis” (energy belts). The intention of this powerful, interactive experience is to clear the body of all “hucha” (heavy energy) and allow it to fill with “sami” (refined energy). The khuyas work to move the hucha out of you, through my “cosco” (spiritual stomach) and ground it into Mother Earth who gratefully receives it as nourishment. In its place, you are filled with sami.

Throughout the healing process, the Khuya Stones do the healing, I am just a vessel for their magic. The seven sacred objects hold big intention for your healing. Each is attuned to powerful aspect of Q’ero medicine: plant medicines, animal medicine and celestial bodies. The three lines inscribed on each stone represent the realms of reality: Hananpacha, Kaypacha, and Ukupacha (the cosmic, earthly and lower realms). In this way the stones intentionally call in earthly and quantum energies to facilitate your healing.

After receiving the Khuyas you will be free of external attachments or projections, purified in your unique energetic being-ness. You will feel refreshed in yourself, with a heightened sense of spiritual perspective. Imagine what is possible from this space…

Inside our beautiful fire-heated, solar-lit ceremonial tent in the surrounds of nature, we will gather in circle and create a safe space to feel in community and for each person to share from their heartspace before receiving the khuyas. During the ceremony we bear witness to eachother’s healing process. This will be a space of confidentiality and trust, only love and compassion for you and all in the circle are welcome.

There are many gifts of life on this Earth… Experiences and teachings that are available to us ONLY as we walk on this planet, in this body, at this time. Learning to tap in and utilise these unique ‘medicines’ of life on Earth to grow our soul is the very reason we are here. When our walk on this Earth is over, so are the opportunities that Earth Medicine brings. It is time to tune in. Imagine knowing with your whole self, even in these times of chaos, there is always purpose and beauty. What is possible when living from this space?

Earth Medicine Work utilises many healing modalities to attune you to the gifts and teachings of the world around you, the true beauty of life on this Earth. This includes working directly with the directions, the seasons and the elements of Earth. It invites you to make non-human friends and respect all beings in their key role in life on earth, from the earthworm to the tallest tree, just like you. It invites you to welcome in new guides and helpers, and learn to ask for and receive guidance from the Universe. It involves tuning in to a deep presence to the experience of life on Earth: the senses, colour, fragrance, taste; the wind, birdsong, movement, touch… And feeling one with and grateful for it all.

These nourishing ways of being bring healing to all levels of our being ~ physical, emotional, energetic, spiritual ~ and are our birthright as humans; they are the very gift of our life on Earth.

Each of of us have over 20 years experience holding space in multiple formats for diverse clientele; we have successfully served many clients through various healing processes in many capacities. We are confident that our retreat serves a real human need in these times when so many are feeling big energetic overwhelm and disconnection. It is time for us all to find the path back to ourselves. About WINONA
I have been walking a conscious journey of personal healing and transformation for 30 years. In that time I have undergone extensive personal healing through various traditions, including various forms of re-birth. I am honoured and blessed by them all.

My holistic approach builds upon a strong classical training that beautifully combines into a powerful Earth Medicine offering that is very needed in these days and times. In addition to a background in home birth midwifery, I have extensive formal training in Pilates Bodywork and rehabilitation, and am further certified in multiple holistic offerings. My work is a combination of many disciplines and I always strive to continue my learning.

As a teacher, mentor, guide, writer and speaker, my heartfelt work opens the opportunity to shift imbalances in body, mind and soul which lead to ongoing holistic wellbeing. I am thrilled to work with clients of every age and ability, discovering how each individual has a unique story to live, tell and heal itself. I have held space for people from single treatments to ongoing rehabilitation; through the transformation into motherhood; to intensive training weekends and year-long courses leading to formal qualifications.

About ANDREW
As a Qualified Arborist, I have lived a deep connection to trees, the standing people of this earth for over 20 years. I have extensive experience taking at-risk-youth on outdoor adventures that have facilitated long-term change in many people’s lives. I am dedicated to my own personal addiction recovery programme and as such I am committed to daily practice of breath work, meditation and being of service to others.

Andrew and Winona live together in an off-grid homestead, primarily outdoors, which allows us to connect deeply with nature and her vast teachings on a daily basis. Together, we hold sacred space for others directly on our land in a fire-heated, solar-lit ceremonial tent. Our life is a ceremonial practice of mindfulness.

PREPARING FOR CEREMONY

To prepare for working respectfully with the sacred plant spirits in ceremony please ready yourself to be receptive and clear. Drink plenty of water and refrain from consumption of alcohol, meat, dairy, caffeine and heavy meals past 4pm. A light plant-based meal after the ceremony is suggested.

  • A favourite mug for drinking your ceremonial cacao.
  • A water bottle.
  • A personal item of power for the altar, both offering its energy to our ceremony and inviting it to infuse with the energy of our night to be taken home with you.
  • A blanket, warm socks or other cozy item(s) to keep you comfy and warm.
  • A drum, rattle or sound bowl to add to the unique soundscape if you have them.
